What is the TCF/ TCFQ ?

TCF is a French Language proficiency test. It is a standardized and calibrated test that ranks candidates on one of the six levels on a scale defined by the Council of Europe (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe). It does not require specific study. TCF score results are reliable measurements for determining proficiency. Developed by the CIEP, a public institution of the French Ministry of Education, the test ensures strict methodology validated by a scientific committee composed of the best French and European specialists. CIEP is already in charge of the DELF and DALF, the only official diplomas of French as a foreign language.

What is the TEF/ TEF Quebec ?

The Test de connaissance du français (TCF) is a language placement test for non-native speakers of French. It is administered by the Centre international d’études pédagogiques (CIEP) for the French Ministry of Education. It fulfils French language entry requirements, can be used to demonstrate language ability for job applications or for personal use, and is used by Québec for immigration procedures. The test is made up of compulsory and optional sections. The reading, listening and language structures sections are mandatory while the writing and speaking sections are optional.

DELF : Diplôme d’études en langue française

DELF is an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify that foreign candidates have achieved a certain level of French. DELF covers 4 independent diplomas corresponding to the first four levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

  • DELF A1
    This level recognises basic knowledge. It is the most basic level at which a language is used, called the « discovery » stage. At this stage, the learner can interact in a simple way: he/she can speak about him/herself and his/her immediate environment.

  • DELF A2

    DELF A2 is based on the same principle: it recognises the linguistic competency of a basic user, considered as a social actor. The candidate can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring the most common polite phrases and exchanges of information.

  • DELF B1

    At this level, the user becomes independent. He/she can maintain interaction: he/she can understand and maintain a discussion and give his/her opinion. He/she is capable of dealing with situations likely to arise in daily life.

  • DELF B2

    A B2 user has a degree of independence that allows him/her to construct arguments to defend his/her opinion, explain his/her viewpoint and negotiate. At this level, the candidate has a degree of fluency and spontaneity in regular interactions and is capable of correcting his/her own mistakes.

DALF : Diplôme d’études en langue française

DALF is an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify that foreign candidates have acquired a certain level of French. DALF covers 2 independent diplomas corresponding to the last two levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

    • DALF C1

      Language users at level C1 are independent. They can express themselves fluently and spontaneously. They have a large vocabulary and can choose the appropriate expression to introduce their comments. They can produce clear, well-structured discourse without hesitation and which shows controlled use of structures.

      DALF : Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française are available in Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Kharar.

    • DALF C2

C2 is the highest level of the CEFR and DALF C2 is the highest diploma of French as a foreign language. C2 users’ proficiency in the language is illustrated by precision, appropriateness and fluency of expression. C2 candidates are capable of using the language for academic and advanced-level purposes.

The DELF and DALF diplomas are independent, so you can take the examination of your choice. You can also sit the examinations for a number of diplomas during the same examination session.

Optional assessments take place every three weeks and you will receive a certificate listing topics studied and marks achieved in each of the assessments at the end of the course.

Requirements

You are required to be confident at engaging in conversation, and have approximately A-Level French or above.

Award

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance, issued by Language academy.
